Luke has graduated to off-campus obedience and Recall! Woo-Hoo!! This guy is learning how to stay calm while in the Jeep, holding his Down the entire car ride over to Baldwin Park (all of 3 minutes, lol), where we practiced his Recall skills with a 20ft long line.

It all didn’t start here if you remember! We started conditioning him to “Come” using a 6ft lead and Prong Collar.

Day 1: Prong pressure – Place to Me Indoors (6ft apart)
Day 2: Prong pressure – Place to Place Indoors (10ft apart), and Food to Me.
Day 3: ECollar Continuous pressure – Place to Me Indoors (6ft apart)
Day 4: ECollar Continuous pressure – Place to Place Indoors (10ft apart with long line), and Food to Me.
Day 5: ECollar Momentary Tap – Place to Me Indoors (30ft apart with long line)
Day 6: ECollar Continuous pressure – Place to Place Outdoors (6ft apart)
Day 7: ECollar Momentary Tap – Place to Place to Me Outdoors (15ft apart with long line)
Day 8: ECollar Momentary Tap – Down to Me (20ft apart)

Of course some dogs move through the phases quicker or slower. Read your dog. If he makes continual mistakes, back up in your process and slow down.

The rest is history. Increase your distance with time. Soon you will have a complete off-leash reliable recall with your dog.
